ARCATA: Arcata Main Street Arcata Bay Oyster Festival 
Local food vendors, including some of Humboldt's finest chefs, serving their creations of oysters (for the non-oyster lover, other tasty options are available) Sample some of Humboldt's own specialty microbrews and wines Activities for children in a kid-friendly area All local music and bands The Oyster Calling Contest and The Point's Shuck & Swallow Contest and Raffle Contest with  mazing prizes. Over 70% of the fresh oysters consumed in California are grown in 450 acres of Humboldt Bay where the conditions are ideal. Currently there are five companies raising both Pacific and Kumomoto oysters for export and the restaurant trade. On average, it takes 18 months from seed oyster to harvest. June is a peak month for oyster harvests in Humboldt County. These little gems of the sea are now farmed in bags tethered to posts in the Arcata Bay and no harmful dredging of the bay is necessary for their capture. The cities of Arcata and Eureka have made significant efforts to maintain the high quality of water in the bay, which is essential for aquaculture. TRINIDAD: Trinidad Fish Festival Jun 18, 2017,  11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Trinidad, California The Trinidad Fish Festival began as a $1 all-you-can-eat crab feed in 1957. All festival workers are volunteer Greater Trinidad Chamber of Commerce Members and kind-hearted village folk. Fun for the whole family. Event highlights include: Whitefish and salmon dinners, beer and wine Free live music A children's activities area A street fair from Town Hall to the Memorial Lighthouse Trinidad Head Lighthouse tours (happens once a year) Coast Guard helicopter rescue demos Trinidad Bay activities at the Pier and the Marine Lab will be open!
