HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIF. -- The annual surfing festival in Huntington Beach is held the last week of July and often into the first week of August. This event often was held on the same weekend as the South Bay's International Surf Festival but has not been impacted by that event, which is a four city festival with many of the competitions open to the public.
Showcasing top talent in surfing, skateboarding and BMX competitions, the nine-day festival also offers a full calendar of family-friendly activities. The entire event is free and open to the public. Surfing, skateboarding and BMX competitions, family-friendly activities, community market, giveaways, sustainability panels and art installations.
Athletes scheduled to compete include two-time Vans US Open of Surfing Champion and Olympic silver medalist Kanoa Igarashi, WSL Women’s World Longboarding Champion Honolua Blomfield, style maven Karina Rozunko; WSL Challenger Series standouts, Olympic skateboarder Zion Wright; BMX medalists Dennis Enarson and Dakota Roche, and many more.
US Open of Surfing is a six-star World Qualifying Series (WQS) competition in which surfers from around the globe come to HB (not the other HB -- Hermosa Beach with the other festival) to surf and hopefully win one round which is added to their surfers' ranking in the international contests.
US Open has
a storied past that you may find interesting. It attracts up to
500,000 visitors who want to experience the youthful beach vibe of a surfing
village atmosphere, right in the heart of metropolitan Los Angeles / Southern
California. Come check it out!
