Lights of Dreams
lightsofdreams.eventbrite.com
is one of the main attractions at the 42nd annual LA Lotus Festival, which celebrates the people and culture of India! This year is very special year in India's history. They are celebrating their 76th Independence Day in 2023. Also, India's national flower is the lotus flower, which is one of the highlights of this festival.

Lights of Dreams Lantern Festival participation (lantern launch) is a ticketed event. $20-30. Join the  Lotus Festival lighting up Echo Park Lake with thousands of water lanterns! Come decorate your own unique lantern and launch it among the thousands of water lanterns at Echo Park Lake. Illuminated water lanterns symbolize our hope for a brighter future, appreciation for our loved ones, and memories of those who passed away; while lotuses represent rebirth, purity and life.  Attendees can directly pick up their lantern kit which includes one lantern (i.e. water floating paper lantern or water floating lotus lantern), wristband to access the lantern launching site, and markers for decoration. At dusk, the lakeside launching ceremony will commence. Thousands of water lanterns will be released into Echo Park Lake, creating an illuminating array of beauty and inspiration. After the event, all lanterns will be cleaned up and recycled to restore the peaceful and serene lake. Proceeds from this event will be donated to non-profit organizations, such as Los Angeles Lotus Festival Inc., that promote the arts and cultures of Asian Pacific Islanders.

Enjoy a fun day in Echo Park with live music and performances, indulge in delicious foods, and shop at our vendor booths. Immerse yourself in the sea of blossoming lotus flowers and cheer on the dragon boat races!

The Lotus Festival at the improved Echo Park Lake, includes arts, crafts and food from host country the India. Lotus Festival, with its sprawling mass of food and craft vendors, and Asian-themed music and dance shows didn't exist during a two-year-long clean up. When Echo Park Lake finally reopened the festival was called off to give the newly planted lawns and shrubbery time to get established.

The Dragon Boat Races hours are 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. both days. An estimated 125,000 people attend this event. The purpose of the Lotus Festival is to showcase the people and cultures of Asia and the Pacific Islands. This year's host country is India.  Dragon Boat Races have been a part of the Lotus Festival tradition since their introduction in 1975 during the 3rd Lotus Festival. Community groups, corporate and small businesses, colleagues and long-time college friends make up eight-member teams.

The Boutique Area provides a variety of Asian and Pacific Island products that are highly specialized, handmade, or culturally identifiable, and of high quality.

The Artisan Village hours are  12-9 p.m. This growing family festival represents the people and cultures of Asia and the Pacific Islands. The Artisan Village is the area within the festival for Artisans to demonstrate their special and unique skills and handcrafted items to sell to the public.

The Health Fair component of the festival provides an opportunity for health service providers to reach out to community residents by providing health screenings and information to the public through displays, brochures and referral services.
