Part of this beloved annual surfing competition which attracts surfers from all parts of California is Guy Takayama Pro-Am Noseriding. Surfboards must be 9 feet or longer and leashes aren't permitted. In a peak situation, the surfer closest to the peak has possession. In a non-peak situation, the first surfer up has possession.

The weather for the event should be sunny and nice. Ocean temperatures in early August are usually around 69 - 72 degrees, providing a really nice climate for the surfers participating in the event.
