World Music Day is a free music festival that takes place in
cities around the world every year close to the Summer Solstice,
the longest day of the year. At the Palo Alto festival, professional and amateur musical groups will perform a wide
variety of musical genres on sidewalks and street corners along
University Avenue and on King Plaza. Palo Alto's trip around the
world through the sights and sounds of guest performers makes
for one of the most interesting ways to celebrate Father's Day.
What started out as a small event has grown to now attract well
over 20,000 people, and the quality of the music can't be beat,
especially considering it's absolutely free to see.
Types of music include Irish, Mexican, Punjabi, tango and
flamenco dances with the Latin music band Tribal Heat, rock
& roll, folkloric dances from Mexico and more.
Events are not guaranteed. It is your responsibility to confirm before going.
