23rd Annual Spring Festival, previously called Iris Festival, features 100+ vendors, from food to crafts, live entertainment on two stages, and the Kids Zone with fun things to do! Competitive minds can also check out the Chili-Cook Off with awards for the best in taste and view. This year there's also the Beer Garden and the Jr. CEO Entrepreneurs (talented kids who'll be showing off their small business).
Porterville was once home to California's largest commercial Iris nursery
spanning 80 acres. The Iris Festival became extremely popular for tourists
wanting to see the Iris Fields.
On Saturday the Annual Porterville Iris Festival
Parade marches through downtown Porterville, launching a day filled with
foods such as a
chili cookoff, entertainment and the bright purple star of the show, the
Iris.
Porterville declared Purple Iris the city's official flower in January 1963
and rightfully so! The Central Valley city was the world's largest
distributor of reblooming iris! You can visit and see the Iris mural
downtown any time, and enjoy other
attractions and events throughout the seasons such as Porterville Fair in
May.
EVENTS: Spring Fishing Derby in April at Murry Park Pond, Spring Egg Hunt and Porterville Fair in May.
Events are not guaranteed. It is your responsibility to confirm before going.
