Sacramento Banana Festival is a fun event with focus on health. From culinary creativity to the Power Soul Stroll For Health, there's plenty of great exercise, food and entertainment for a day in the park.
Two stages with live bands and performances, Arts & culture pavilion, 20+ multicultural food vendors, 80+ retail, artisan, & craft vendors, Best chef contest, Mahogany Fashion show, Kids Zone with inflatables, carnival rides, kid performances & more!
Sacramento is not known for banana crops in California (though you actually can grow them here,) but they consume a lot of bananas and love them so much that there are at least three banana festivals celebrating this sweet, soft food that monkeys love, too. The banana grows in its own personal wrapper that keeps it protected & free from bugs, with the color of its skin alerting us to when the time is right and the fruit is ripe to eat.
Pancake Breakfast, Smashed Edible Centerpiece Chef Challenge, Limbo and Banana Pie Eating Contest with the Harry Belafonte Banana Boat Song, Banana Lady Dance, Velocity Circus, Samoa Silasila Dance, Banana Fashion Show, Salsa Dance Competition and Community Salsa Dancing, One Leg Chuck and Band, Latin Magic Band, Banana Pie Eating, Little Banana Pageant Show and even a Youth Poetry Slam are some of the activities spanning two days.
Port Hueneme Banana Festival is another such banana festival based on the concept that importers ship bananas into this port.
