Tours of ships from the United States Navy and Coast Guard bringing over 900 sailors and Coasties to the Dogpatch neighborhood this week. Portside, enjoy a festival atmosphere of San Francisco food truck culture, live music, art and educational military displays. A great way to experience the day to day of sailors' lives and to celebrate the men and women who serve our Nation. The public is encouraged to attend tours and interact with Sailors. The minimum age for tours is 8 years old.

One of the highlights of this special annual event is the Blue Angeles air show, a dynamic aerial presentation of precision flying and daring feats requiring great skill. Shown in the photo is one of the maneuvers of the Blue Angels flying overhead above Pier 39 and the San Francisco Bay.

Though it appears that the military jets fly under bridges and structures, be assured that they do not, according to their press information.

If you are looking for exciting festivals to attend, this is one of San Francisco's best, and according to Blue Angels fans, the best air show among several that take place in California each year. Of course, many of those fans happen to be San Franciscans!

In addition to Tulipmania and the annual Christmas Tree Lighting, or the great 4th of July Fireworks display Pier 39 is a crowd-pleaser during the annual Fleet Week celebration in San Francisco.

Events are not guaranteed. It is your responsibility to confirm before going.
