Hangzhou's West Lake is one of its most popular tourist attractions combining pleasurable boat rides with tours of nearby attractions such as historic pagodas, gardens and tea plantations. For those of us living near popular American bays such as California's Newport Harbor, the boats in China look different as seen in this tour boat on West Lake.
Many places we traveled in China seemed to elicit smiles, stares, and people coyly using their cell phones to take photos of us. I captured this picture of a boat where the entire tour group stared and laughed as our boat filled with Americans passed by them on Hangzhou's popular West Lake.
