Located outside Changmen Gate (gate to the city) in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, Lingering Garden is one of the four most famous gardens in China. It is considered a world heritage site by UNESCO. First built in 1593 during the Ming Dynasty the garden and buildings were nearly demolished in the 1930s. The government invested capital and saved it, then opening Lingering Garden to the public.
