Some of California's top wineries use reports coming out of UC Davis for their grape-growing excellence, and those who study the data often win awards as they maximize the elements of temperature, soils, and weather to create some of the best products available.
Davis, itself, is known as the bicycle capital of the United States. Traditionally there have been more bikes per capita than any other city in the country. Davis recently acquired the Bicycle Museum, which helped bolster its claim as the bike epicenter.
Students coming to the university often arrive on Amtrak train and disembark the train with bicycles in hand. They can live, study and work owning nothing more than an affordable bike!
Davis as a tourist destination features many things to see and do, with
some of the top events centered around the college campus. The Robert
Mondavi Center for the Arts features an amazing theater for concerts, plays
and other presentations. The quality of the acts is world class, and often
tourists will come to Davis just to take in a show one night.
