The name Graeagle actually comes from the town's origins as a timber town and
site of a lumber company named Graeagle Lumber Company. Boxes requiring
timber for construction were made at the Box Factory owned by the California Fruit Exchange.
During its heyday, thousands of people lived here and built boxes for shipping
fruit, once California's claim to fame during the 1920's through 1940's.
