Mount Tamalpais

Mount Tamalpais (known locally as Mount Tam) is a peak in Marin County, California, United States, often considered symbolic of Marin County. Much of Mount Tamalpais is protected within public lands such as Mount Tamalpais State Park and the Mount Tamalpais Watershed. Mount Tamalpais is the highest peak in the Marin Hills, which are part of the Northern California Coast Ranges. The elevation at the East Peak, its highest point, is 2,574 feet. The West Peak, the mountain's second highest peak, where a radar dome currently stands, is at about 2,563 feet . It stood over 2,600 feet before the summit was flattened for the radar dome construction. The mountain is clearly visible from the city of San Francisco and the East Bay region.

Alcatraz Island
A ferry, located at Piers 31-33 (cross streets of Embarcadero & Bay Street) will take you to the island. Just remember to make your reservation in advance since this popular attraction tends to sell out up to a week in advance.
Fort Point National Historic Site
Underneath the south anchorage of the Golden Gate Bridge, on the northernmost part of the Presidio, visitors get "hands-on" opportunities to learn about the firing of Civil War artillery. There is also a tour of the fort led by one of the staff on a daily basis.
Golden Gate Bridge Pavilion
At the Golden Gate Bridge viewing area at the south end of the bridge see a model of bridge tower used in testing original bridge design, artifacts like rivets and hardhats, Building the Bridge video.
Lands End Lookout Visitor Center is located in Merrie Way park east of Cliff House at the cross streets of Point Lobos, El Camino del Mar in San Francisco, California.
The Marin Headlands Visitor Center is located in the historic Fort Barry Chapel, at the intersection of Field and Bunker Roads approx. 3 miles from either entrance to the Marin Headlands. Rangers answer questions and lead scheduled interpretive walks and programs.
Muir Woods National Monument
Muir Woods Visitor Center is located at the entrance to Muir Woods, approximately 12 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge. The visitor center is located at the main entrance. Muir Woods is one of the 5 best places to see the Pacific Ocean in California.
Presidio of San Francisco Visitor Center
Building 105 Montgomery Street – on the Main Post Parade Ground, corner of Lincoln Blvd. Interactive exhibits and rotating history exhibit panels re-create the history and culture of the location.
Pacific West Regional Information Center
Located on the corner of the Argonaut Hotel at 495 Jefferson Street, San Francisco, CA at X-streets Jefferson & Hyde Streets, information about all of the National Parks located in the Pacific West Region can be found in this office.
Crissy Field Center
Crissy Field Center, 1199 Each Beach. The Center includes a media lab, arts workshop, urban ecology lab, and educational experiences for people of all ages.
