A cookbook is available called The Bells are Ringing, a Call to Table, named National Winner of Tabasco Community Cookbook Awards. It is on sale for the holidays. Grossing more than $250,000 in the two previous printings in which 8,700 cookbooks were sold, net proceeds of about $162,000 have gone toward preservation of Orange County’s only mission and most historically significant site and museum.
The third printing of the cookbook celebrates restoration successes such as safety and wheel chair/stroller access in the central courtyard and near the ruins of the Great Stone Church, an $80,000 project. Other projects funded by the net proceeds of the Mission cookbook include the improvements to failing masonry and adobe on the southeast restroom building that had an historic exterior.
The hard cover book includes 208 pages and costs $20, plus $7 shipping & handling. The book includes recipes from local restaurants such as Cedar Creek Inn, El Adobe and Sarducci´s at the Depot and Impressionist, Early California artwork from the Irvine Museum, photographs, and sidebars relevant to the Capistrano Mission, the Jewel of the Missions. The Bells are Ringing is a perfect souvenir for Mission visitors and a great gift item as well.
