Huntington Beach--Coast City Ballet in Orange County, California features fresh choreographies that make this performance a unique and memorable California Christmas Events. Ballet Performance Venue: Huntington Beach High School, Huntington Beach, CA Website where Nutcracker event is announced annually: Christmas isn't just about gifts and celebrations such as the Nutcracker Ballet, an annual favorite for youth and adults. It is also about sharing your talents. The Coast City Ballet located in Huntington Beach, California, was formed in just such manner. Co-founder Aly and her daughter, Clara, have both loved ballet throughout their lives.
Clara D'Autilia, inherited her mother's love for dance (yes, The Nutcracker had something to do with her name). She has been dancing since she was three years old, and teaching for over 15 years. Clara studied dance locally and in Argentina with, Dudley Davis, Terry Lewis, Ruben Chayan, Olga Ferry, David Wilcox among others. Her dream was to own her own studio.
In 2004, the mother-daughter duo purchased and founded Pacific Dance Center in Huntington Beach and set out to make dreams come true: to train dancers in a professional, caring, and safe environment; to promote the art of dance; to make ballet accessible to all; and to provide dancers and choreographers of all ages with the opportunities to dance, perform, and create. In 2005, Coast City Ballet (CCB) was born. Coast City Ballet is a small company comprised of dancers ages 10 to adult.
Since March 2005, CCB has performed in different venues throughout the Southland, participated in community outreach programs, presented dozens of new works choreographed by CCB members, and has won numerous national and international dance awards.
CCB continues to stage productions of The Nutcracker in the full-length version since 2005. Coast City Ballet believes that all dancers, beginners to semi-professionals, deserve the opportunities to dance and have their moment in the spotlight. For The Nutcracker, Coast City Ballet could feature famous dancers from renowned companies all over the nation, but instead maintains its mission: To provide dancers of all levels and ages with the opportunity to dance in a professional environment.
Based on the original choreography by Marius Petipa and Leon Ivanov, CCB's Nutcracker (conceived and directed by Miss D'Autilia) offers fresh choreographies. Coast City Ballet's production features dancers ranging from 3-year-old pre-dance students, to semi-professional adults.
