One of the most entertaining things to do during the holiday season is The Nutcracker ballet, produced and performed by Pacific Festival Ballet.
Pacific Festival Ballet performs The Nutcracker each year and invites the public to attend. Past events have been held at Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. As the resident ballet company of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza's line-up of entertainment, this company anticipates the event annually and makes lavish plans to costume over 100 talented dancers.
Showcasing the dance company's creative direction under the watchful eye of artistic director Kim Maselli original material often considered cutting edge comes from this L.A.-close ballet company where many of Hollywood's talents reside. The ballet company was co-founded with Joyce Hurley. californiadancetheatre.com
Maselli said that it is never a challenge to find a wealth of talent for roles in the Nutcracker, but selecting from so many talented dancers is. California Dance Theatre school offers students the opportunity to become one of the cast members in a variety of roles. Guest artists from other professional dance companies try out for parts so each year is not the same and not predictable. The unique blend of dance talents brings so much to the performance and brings back audiences for each Nutcracker Ballet in a new season.
Ballet performances have included Romeo & Juliet, Sleeping Beauty and Sea Princess created by the company.
Located just 20 miles outside downtown
Los Angeles, the creative talent in and
out of the greater Southern California
area is tremendous. In fact, Pacific
Festival Ballet regularly attracts
luminaries from across the dance world
who step into roles, performing as guest
artists. Talented dancers not only
originate from this ballet company, but
many audition to be part of its annual
productions of The Nutcracker.
Pacific Festival Ballet, resident ballet
company of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts
Plaza Performing Arts Center, unveiled a
newly revised The Nutcracker. It
was greeted with open arms and great
press. As the dance company marches on,
we expect to see more great things
originating from their institution.
