Calistoga Recreation
Robert Louis Stevenson State Park
- parks.ca.gov
Location: The park is seven miles north
of Calistoga on Highway 29.
Robert Louis Stevenson State Park
- Famous author of
Treasure Island and Kidnapped spent his
honeymoon in 1880 at the location,
though nothing remains of
Stevenson's cabin. Rough terrain, evergreen forests in
the canyons on north-facing slopes and
chaparral on the south-facing slopes are
part of the landscape. There is a five-mile hike to the top of
Mt. St. Helena. You can see
much of the San Francisco Bay Area on
clear days. On
exceptionally clear days the top of Mt. Shasta can be
seen, 192 miles in the distance.

Mount St. Helena
Surrounded by trees and dramatic
mountains, Calistoga may just be the
most beautiful place in the entire Napa
Valley. Visitors can enjoy year-round
recreation here, whether you're a
picnicker or a serious mountain biker.
Scenic day hikes (ranging from beginner
to expert level) are minutes away at
local state parks. Take a hot air

town, swim, camp out, walk or take a
horseback ride. For a stunning view of
the northern Napa Valley, don't miss the
