The Annual Belmont Shore Car Show draws over 40,000 spectators and classic car owners to Belmont Shore, Calif.,
where surprises include the newly-formed Belmont Shore Roller Derby
team, a Miss Teen USA hopeful, bands along 2nd Street, and an amazing
variety of automobiles spanning the century.
One of the largest car shows of its kind on the West Coast includes 700
classic cars on display throughout the 14 blocks of Second Street from Bayshore to Livingston Avenues.
It is no small deal to close 2nd Street (only happens for the car show,
Christmas Parade, and one or two events,) so people who frequent the
beloved beach community of Long Beach have another reason to enjoy their
dining and shopping hangout even more.
An estimated 40,000 vehicles per day pass through this neighborhood on
2nd Street, and for the one special day friends and visitors can gather to intermix shopping and dining
with viewing the pristine, collector automobiles. Convertibles, sports
cars, muscle cars, hot rods & low riders, classic roadsters, sedans and
coupes made from the 1920s through the mid 1970s are showcased in displays.
There are over $25 million worth of classic cars to see.
Along the sidewalks and streets are vendors selling hot dogs, sodas,
popcorn, shaved ice, hats, sunglasses and more during the event. But
throughout the year Belmont Shore has over 50 shops, 45+ restaurants,
and a truly authentic Southern California beach appeal with the towering
palms that line the street on the hill at 2nd & Livingston visible from
nearly every vantage point. Set next to the Alamitos Bay, the ocean is
never more than a five minute walk from Belmont Shore shopping and
eateries.
