California sunsets: They call it the Golden West. It's the west coast beauty in which you can look to the west to see the sunset. Huntington Beach Pier is one place to capture this stunning drama. This picture of the Huntington Beach Pier is back-lit and was taken from Huntington City Beach on the south side of the HB Pier. A telephoto lens was used to emphasize the little silhouettes of people in stark contrast to the sun. The overall effect is dark silhouettes and orange sky color.
Visiting the Huntington Beach Pier offers many opportunities to take take stunning sunset pictures. You'll need to stand on the south side of the pier, always. It is where the sun goes down. However, as the year progresses, you may also find vantage points from the base of the pier.
