Photo: Long Beach Dragon Boat Race at Marine Stadium
Each year there's a dragon boat race that involves many teams and races throughout a weekend of fun. Held in the placid waters of Marine Stadium which was built for rowing events at the Xth Olympiad as the first manmade rowing course in the United States. Its width allowed four teams to race abreast. It has hosted a variety of racing events since 1932, and is an important rowing training center. It is California Historical Landmark 1014. You can see a plaque near the Peter Archer Rowing Center overlooking the aquatic stadium.
