Long Beach is known for its competitive rowers. Many train locally at Pete Archer Rowing Center, next to Marine Stadium. The stadium was built for rowing. With room for four teams to row side by side, the facility allowed Olympic competitions to take place in a professional facility beginning in 1932, and continuing today. Open to the public, there are community rowing clubs and many types of competitions you can participate in.
