Photo: Season blooms such as a row of purple or white irises line the banks of a small pond
Flowers such as irises add color to the beautiful Japanese garden on the campus of Cal State Long Beach. The public garden is open must days and allows visitors to park (pay meters) and wander over to see the uniquely pruned black pines, ponds, koi fish, a bridge, tea house and pathways that meander around the pond.
You never know exactly what will be blooming in this well kept garden. Be sure to stop by and visit often to see the changing plants, flowers and subtle seasons experienced in this and every Southern California garden where there's never snow, hardly a freeze, and always mild, mellow temperatures mixed with ample sunshine.
