One of the highlights to a visit to Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden in Long Beach, Calif. is the pond filled with incredible koi fish. They come in many colors--orange with spots of white and black, a solid pale yellow or white, a sold brilliant orange, shades of pink, gray, black... there are so many colors to see and no two fish are the same.

Fun for the kids, there is an ample supply of fish food you can buy inside the Japanese garden and watch in delight as the fish come right up to you to catch a bite. The fish are well cared for but do have a few predators such as a blue heron that swoops in to grab fish to eat.
