Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel adopts its name from a nearby city, but it is actually located in Dana Point.

Sitting atop a hill above the Salt Creek Beach, resort guests at the Five Diamond resort in south Orange County, can get rides down to the beach as shown in the photograph. While other visitors to the beach must make similar uphill hikes to their cars parked in a public pay parking lot, they don't have the option to ride golf carts that hotel guests are afforded.

Similar cart rides are offered at nearby St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, which doesn't actually have the beach on site.

Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel is known for its luxury views overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It is popular for weddings, corporate events, and luxury stays with a bit more gloss. There are more affordable hotels nearby but the portion of the California coast where the Ritz sits also has more expensive luxury offerings such as Pelican Point and Montage Resort in Laguna Beach.
