Laguna Beach, Calif.--The Montage Resort & Spa is a relatively new resort property in one of the most beautiful and beloved sections of the California coast in Orange County.
The Good: Spectacular views, pool overlooks ocean, sand beach on site, spa treatments, honeymoon heaven. Hotel staff and management works to please every guest.
The Bad: Due to popularity in the summer peak season guests have commented that the pool was crowded and there were waiting lists to access umbrellas and other beach amenities. Paying $1,000 per night in some instances, guests expect more.
The resort sits on a hilltop above the beaches and sandy coves where tidepooling is quite popular, along with sunbathing. If you are in for a vacation of exploring, you will have a great time looking at the colorful plants and animals visible in low tide.
Christmas Cove Beach is the northern most beach that is easily accessible from the Montage Resort. The best access to the beach is by way of the ramp at the end of the Montage Resort park area. Goff Cove is just off to the left at the bottom of the ramp.
