Seeing This Attraction May Save Your Life
By C. MacDonald
Buena Park, CA-Going through the new
"Bodies-The Exhibition" attraction may
save your life. Using real human body
specimens, this exciting new attraction
shows an actual smoker's lung and a
healthy lung. It shows the damage caused
to organs by overeating and lack of
exercise. What it does, in a
surprisingly tasteful manner, is really
get you thinking about your own body.
Chances are it will empower you to
change the way you live, the way you
exercise, the way you eat and the way
you view your body.
"This allows the public to learn about
the inner workings of the body, just
like the medical community has for
years," explained Dr. Roy Glover,
Professor Emeritus of Anatomy and Cell
Biology at the University of Michigan
and the Chief Medical Director for the
Bodies exhibition. "We want to educate
people about their own bodies, so they'll understand and better care for
themselves. They'll learn the body never lies—it always tells the
truth."
That's what you'll find out by visiting
this truly amazing attraction inside the
old Movieland Wax Museum. Over 200
actual human bodies and specimens
(donated to, and still belonging to
Chinese medical schools, where they were
meticulously dissected and preserved)
are respectfully displayed.
The human specimens, that provide a
visual textbook to your own body, are
preserved through a revolutionary
technique called "polymer preservation,"
where human tissue is permanently
preserved using liquid silicone rubber
that's treated and hardened. The
rubberized specimen, preserved to the
cellular level, showcases the body's
bones, muscles, nerves, blood vessels
and organs.
Chances are you'll never see your body
the same again. You'll also learn how
the liver is the only organ that can
regenerate itself without a scar. If all
your body muscles worked together, you
could lift more than 10 tons. Faster
than the world's most powerful computer,
the human nervous system uses billions
of interconnected nerve cells to
regulate all the body's vital functions
while also serving as the seat of all
thought and feeling. There are more than
100,000 miles of blood vessels in the
body. The brain requires 20% of the
body's total blood supply.
You'll marvel at the unprecedented,
unique look into the complex human body
and be inspired by its inner beauty. The
magnificent displays, combined with
music and special lighting, give a
seldom scene, realistic view of every
aspect of the body. Galleries focus on
the skeletal, muscular, reproductive,
circulatory and other body systems. The
exhibits sometimes offer a 3D dimension,
giving you an overall look and better
understanding of what you see.
We highly recommend you see this
incredible attraction, made possible by
