There are many activities and events going on at the University campus. Hikes are a popular local pastime for students and non-students.
Arcata Plaza. A storybook town center looks old-fashioned and with good reason! It is old, dating back to the 1850s and the gold rush. A statue of President McKinley is surrounded by flowers, bushes, green lawn and park benches to sit and enjoy the scene that unfolds as people park their cars and go into shops and restaurants, or wander past. The Minor Theater has received much tender loving care and is said to be restored to its yesteryear glory.
