The Tournament of Roses Parade (tournamentofroses.com) rolls out of the gate and onto the streets of Pasadena  on Tuesday, January 1, 2013,  but there’s a whole lot of hoopla swirling around this festive event. In addition to Big Ten Conference champs, Wisconsin Badgers, facing off against champions of the Pac-12 Conference, Stanford Cardinal in the 99th Rose Bowl Game on New Year’s Day, visitors can see the marching bands perform three shows.

On December 29 & 30 , 2012, you can see the annual Bandfest prizewinning bands of the 2013 Rose Parade performing the field shows that made them famous. Three shows over two days showcase talented musicians, dancers and auxiliary performers in action. Pasadena’s annual Rose Parade began as a promotional stunt trumpeting the region’s year-round growing season. Now there’s a lot more trumpeting in days leading up to the parade as audiences watch marching bands play favorite songs complete with drums, saxophones, tubas, flutes–and trumpets, of course!
