Celebrate National Popcorn Day this Saturday, January 19, 2013. Pictured is a popcorn festival with free popcorn in Costa Mesa taking place on Jan. 19 & 20 (ocmarketplace.com).
Californians are a wacky bunch when it comes to popcorn. The very same people who will shop at Sam’s Club and lug home a 50 pound bag of Weaver bulk pack gourmet popping corn at $38, have been known to turn around and purchase gourmet flavors such as 479° Popcorn (479popcorn.com) for around $26 – $40 per pound–talk about price difference! Popcorn can be one of the cheapest snack foods to dine on if you make it yourself but when you buy gourmet, eat it at the movie theater or sports competition, it’s a whole different ballgame. See recipes for flavors: Cinnamon Sugar Kettle Corn, Spicy Italian Popcorn, Rocky Road Popcorn Clusters and Caramel Corn Crunch. Here are some facts & figures about popcorn.
