If you think that the summer concerts in the park are a bore, you owe it to yourself to give one a try sometime. When I happened to see one such concert last week, I sat down on a bench in the charming Polliwog Park (named after frogs) and listened to a group of Dixieland jazz artists called the Hyperion Outfall Serenaders. Watching the locals with picnic baskets spread out on tables or blankets, watching them pour wine for their families and friends, and seeing people get up and dance was the highlight of my trip to Manhattan Beach. I’d like to go back!
