Big, Bodacious, Beautiful Hats are Back at California Festivals

Vallejo’s Mad Hatter Festival & Parade ended in December, but there’s a whole new crop of bonnets, berets and caps planned for festivals this Spring 2014. From Mariposa’s Butterfly Days hat contest to Clovis Big Hat Days and San Francisco’s Union Street Spring Celebration & Easter Bonnet Parade, this year the hats are expected to be bigger, fancier or more outrageous than ever before! In Clovis you see the craziest things for Big Hat Days–including an entire city scene in miniature on top of someone’s “block”. At Mariposa’s Butterfly Days Hat Contest it’s not just girls who decorate. Guys also wear butterflies–on their ball caps! In San Francisco for the Easter Parade you’ll see “spring chickens” wearing hats containing baskets filled with eggs. It’s absolutely crazy!
