Four Famous California Mounts

For fans of California mountains, there are a few that go by the name of Mount instead. Among the state’s favorites are Mt. Shasta (bottom left); Mt. Whitney (top left); Mt. Diablo (top right); and Mt. Wilson (bottom right).
California Mounts
- Mount Whitney: 14,505 feet – highest summit in the contiguous U.S.
- Mount Shasta: 14,179 feet – second highest peak in the Cascades and fifth highest in California
- Mt. Wilson: 5,710 feet – home to Wilson Observatory
- Mount Diablo: 3,864 feet – home to Mount Diablo State Park
Other beloved “mounts” include Mount Tamalpais, Mount San Antonio (Baldy), and Mount Ada
