The largest collection in the world of antique computers and computing equipment is located in Mountain View, Calif. Home to LinkedIn, SETI-Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence,  and Microsoft Research Silicon Valley Campus (where 60 of the top minds in computer technology come together to create,) Mountain View is a natural for hosting this museum.   Fascinating and full of “I didn’t know that” moments, you’ll see the first modern-day computer invented by Charles Babbage–guess when? The Babbage Difference Engine was designed in 1849!

Here’s some fun stuff in the Computer History Museum:

  • Computer chips from the 1950s (1 transistor on a chip)  to today (hundreds of millions of transistors per chip)
  • Calculators, Punched Card Processing, Mainframes,  Minicomputers, Personal Computers, Gaming, AI
