Two long-time festivals bit the dust this July — Brentwood Corn and JazzFestWest both said goodbye, citing financial reasons for their demise. Yet, California continues to grow population-wise, and new festivals come online all the time. Are you ready to ferment?

Fermentation Festival in Santa Barbara on July 19, 2014 invites you to learn about the Science of the Gut. This all-ages experiential one-day festival celebrates the art of making traditionally fermented foods and beverages such as kimchi, kombucha, kefir, pickles, beer, sauerkraut, wine, cider, cultured vegetables, and sourdough bread, and empowers attendees to make these foods at home.  If you’d rather have  Tequila & Tacos, head down the 101 to Oxnard where you can sip another fermented beverage — tequila. That event happens July 19-20, 2014. See festivals and events for details.

And by the way, on August 30, 2014  the annual Tequila Harvest Festival returns to Santa Barbara for its fifth year, inviting guests to learn about and sip delicious agave tequilas, made through the process of the fermenting.
