McCLOUD, CALIF. — Have you tried to purchase furniture made solely of wood recently? Good luck in your search! Even some of the “finer” products contain composite materials! You can’t fully appreciate wood until you visit California’s forest regions where locals host festivals celebrating their logging heritage. McCloud is one such city paying homage to an industry partially responsible for the town’s existence. The Lumberjack Fiesta on July 25-27, 2014 includes all the usual logging contests–axe throwing, log sawing and Lil Logger. In this neck of the woods (several hundred miles away,) you’ll also find the Samoa Cookhouse Logging Museum and the upcoming Paul Bunyan Days in Fort Bragg.
