SACRAMENTO, CALIF. — If you’re thinking of heading to the California Capitol Tree Lighting Ceremony you may not get in if you’re not on the RSVP list. While the event was scheduled to take place today, Dec. 2, 2014, outdoors, it has been moved to the Capitol Building Rotunda. Less space means less people to get in for the ceremony. Gov. Jerry Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown are hosting the 83rd annual Capitol Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5 p.m. and with predictions of rain, have decided not to take any chances about getting wet. Highlights include:

  • Kitty O’Neal of KFBK Radio will emcee the ceremony
  • Performance by the California Army National Guard’s DET 1
  • 40th Infantry Division Band
  • Brass Quintet
  • Governor’s Own
  • Poet Jibril Kyser
  • Students from the Oakland Military Institute and Oakland School for the Arts
  • St. Paul’s Baptist Church Choir

Here is a list of tree lighting ceremonies scheduled for Dec. 2. DO CHECK TO CONFIRM before going, as rain may cancel!
