California First Day Hikes

As the clock strikes 2015 some people will celebrate wildly, then nurse hangovers as they try to recover. For nature lovers eager to get out and explore the New Year in a new way, check out California State Parks 3rd annual First Day Hikes. Part of a national celebration taking place in parks throughout all 50 states, Californians are invited to participate in 45 hikes being offered at 40 state park locations ranging from Mount Tamalpais State Park where you earn your commemorative pin once you’ve reached East Peak– to Mount San Jacinto State Park’s Discovery Trail where you may end up wearing snow shoes at the 8,000 foot elevation!
