Free Rides on New Year’s Eve

imgSafety is the number one concern of California’s cities and public transportation systems. They are putting their philosophy into action on New Year’s Eve with free rides. Here are some of the offers taking place.

  • LONG BEACH: Long Beach Transit free rides Dec. 31, 2014, 5 p.m. to Jan. 1, 2015, 2:30 a.m.  lbtransit.com
  • LOS ANGELES: Metro bus and rail lines free starting 9 p.m. on December 31, 2014 until 2 a.m. on January 1, 2015. All Metro Rail Line Stations with latched gates will be unlatched during this time. Regular fares are in effect at 2 a.m. on New Year’s Day.
  • ORANGE COUNTY: OCTA (public bus service) is offering free rides from Dec. 31, 2014, 6 p.m. to  Jan. 1, 2015, 2:30 a.m. on regular routes.  octa.net
  • RIVERSIDE: Riverside Transit offers free rides on New Year’s Eve after 2 p.m.  riversidetransit.com
  • SAN FRANCISCO: MUNI Free rides Dec. 31, 8 p.m. – Jan. 1, 5 a.m.  sfmta.com
  • SANTA MONICA: Big Blue Bus free rides after 9 p.m. on NYE till 1 a.m.  bigbluebus.com
  • WEST HOLLYWOOD: Free New Year’s Eve shuttle service to discourage drinking & driving. weho.org
