Question? Where is the Avocado capital of the world? Fallbrook, California
Avocados are a luxury at over $1 and sometimes $3 each. They are exceptional in salads, with Mexican dishes and nothing beats a great guacamole dip. Add finely chopped onion, salt, fresh lemon and diced tomatoes. You can spice it up with some hot peppers, Tabasco, or other fire. That’s just one simple recipe among hundreds that people create. Avocado is great in anything–almost. It’s creamy, smooth, is easily digested, and contains the good form of fats–but you can put on the weight if you eat too many!
Avocados are tasty, healthy, happy fruits that thrive in milder climates. They are a much needed ingredient to guacamole dishes during Cinco de Mayo festivals in just over seven weeks and will provide countless joy to avo-fans at the upcoming Fallbrook Avocado Festival in April.
Fallbrook, the capital of avocados, is serving up some big entertainment and fun with races in which you turn your prize avocado into a vehicle by adding wheels so it can roll. There are cute little avo-kid contests, costume contests, and tours of avocado packing plants located in the charming North San Diego County community known for arts & avocados. You’d hardly recognize the quaint and slightly old-fashioned town when the Fallbrook Avocado Festival rolls in. Like bees to flowering plants, humans swarm, devouring everything in sight during the event!
