Californians are ALL about Mother Earth. On Earth Day held April 22, 2012 – many will celebrate by cleaning up messes created by humans and nature, itself. From picking up trash to cleaning out creek beds, a variety of projects are being hosted by municipalities and nonprofit organizations. There are some awesome Earth Day Festivals in Santa Barbara, Templeton (shown in photos) and places throughout California that focus on information and sampling earth’s bounty.
In addition to that specific focus, many will celebrate Earth Day by attending flower festivals such as Lancaster Poppy Festival, Porterville Iris Festival and Carlsbad Flower Fields. Cherry Blossom Festival and Apple Blossom Festival are a few more events this week & month in California.
We also celebrate the earth through food festivals. This month people will enjoy the Asparagus Festival in Stockton and Lemon Festival in Upland, to name a few. Next month it’s all about strawberries and artichokes–get ready! For more ways to love the earth, see our calendar of events.
