When Michael Jackson met his untimely death on June 25, 2009 at the age of 51, it took his fans time to grieve, honor and remember the King of Pop. By 2010 they figured out how best to celebrate this great musician, singer and performer with their own version of one of his most famous songs, Thriller.  An event called Thrill the World brings fans together in cities around the globe to perform the dance steps to music that’s extremely popular around Halloween. Thrill the World (thrilltheworld.com) group will again perform a choreographed Thriller mass dance, as will fans throughout California. Join thousands of dancing zombies as Thrill the World honors Michael Jackson—and celebrates the 30th anniversary of the landmark album’s release–with a street dance for the ages.

How big is Thriller? The Thriller album by Michael Jackson remains the best-selling release of all time, with sales estimated up to 110 million copies worldwide. The song Thriller from the 1984 album release was written by Rod Temperton, produced by Quincy Jones, and performed by Michael Jackson with guest Vincent Price speaking on the song.

CALIFORNIA THRILL THE WORLD DANCES ON OCTOBER 27, 2012

Participants are encouraged to dress up as a zombie for the Thriller performance. Any old, ripped-up dress or costume will do it. You may come already dressed if you wish, but feel free to bring your clothes and makeup to change at the venue. Thriller lessons at most events are held a few hours before Thrill Time.

Riverside – Ghost Walk will have a Thriller dance. Ghost Walk Riverside will have a troupe of 25 dancers in costume performing a routine inspired by Michael Jackson’s  Thriller on Oct. 27. Under the direction of Angie Quiroz of Danzanna Dance Productions, California Riverside Ballet it will take place every 20 minutes beginning at 6 p.m. near where Ghost Walk’s six tours embark on the Main Street Mall.
