One of the most exciting traditions that invites people far and wide to celebrate is the Great Dickens Christmas Fair, now in its 34th year at Cow Palace in San Francisco. Over 700 costumed actors bring the Victorian-era pages of Charles Dickens novels to life with entertainment that includes wandering performers, fantastic foods, stage shows, puppet shows for kids, and a special celebration paying homage to the classic British author’s 200th birthday in 2012. Not forgotten by any means, the award-winning author (who is considered a timeless classic) gave the world A Christmas Carol, the theme for the spectacular holiday event. For five weekends you can dress, eat, and talk like your favorite characters such as Tiny Tim and Ebeneezer Scrooge. Or you can just be entertained the ‘olde’ fashioned way watching commanding performances by those who really dig Dickens. Great Dickens Christmas Fair runs Nov. 23-Dec. 23, 2012, see dickensfair.com
