How can one theme park be so versatile (and maybe even a little schizophrenic) when it comes to entertainment? Pictured left: Adorable children attend Camp Snoopy Halloween Celebration at Knott’s Berry Farm. The event is a happy, non-scary trick-or-treat experience that kids enjoy annually. Right photos: A loving parent transforms into a monster for Knott’s Scary Farm Haunt that begins on September 29, 2013 and continues through November 2, 2013. This event is the opposite of child’s play though it may contain elements of such. Halloween is supposed to be a little scary–there are ghosts, goblins, witches and creepy things that come out at night. But for the sake of putting too much fright in young, absorbing minds, Knott’s Berry Farm separates the men from the boys.
It’s the big boys (adults) who go wild and turn into vampires at this annual event where try-outs for scare parts recently took place. Five new mazes have been added to this year’s line up in what’s billed as Southern California’s largest haunt experience. Knott’s Scary Farm features the return of Elvira in an all new show with more than 1,000 monsters lurking in the fog. Hours: 7PM – 1AM: Wednesday, Thursday & Sunday. 7PM – 2AM: Friday and Saturday. Not recommended for children under 13. Tickets start at $38. knotts.com
Don’t forget, there’s the amazing Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights where the band, Black Sabbath, will be immortalized in a 3-D maze, and the cute & cuddly Disneyland Mickey’s Halloween Party, too.
