Head for Avalon this summer for Catalina Island‘s very own version of Beach Blanket Bingo
In Beach Blanket Bingo, one of many 1960s era beach genre movies, Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello are looking for a certain radio station on their transistor radio. When they find it, they begin singing the film’s title song, “Beach Blanket Bingo.” Though some consider this the first and only Avalon Beach Blanket Bingo, there’s another Avalon version played on Tuesday and Thursday summer evenings between 6 and 7 p.m. The public is invited to roll back the clock for some old-fashioned beach fun. Bring your blanket or beach chair– $1 per bingo card gets you in on the action to win fun local prizes. Beach Summer Bingo goes from June 24 to August 28, 2014. Call “Avalon” at 310-510-1987, or see their web: CityofAvalon.com
TRIVIA: Beach Blanket Bingo (1965) was filmed “26 Miles Across the Sea” from Santa Catalina, overlooking the island of romance from Malibu’s Paradise Cove!
