Lights at night are a big hit in the Fall and Winter. From Halloween lights decor to Christmas fantasy worlds created with just strings of lights (and some magic,) the public can’t get enough. That’s probably why Disneyland brought back its Electrical Light Parade (through Sept.30, 2019) and why Calabasas gets back its Nights of the Jack in 2019. Like color runs, foam fests, mud runs and other entertainment, many of the one-of-a-kind events play out and you don’t see them return in the big way that they first got unveiling in California. They often travel from state to state, sometimes reinvent themselves along the way, and if they don’t stick, they’re eventually gone.

For those who love pumpkins, Halloween and being outdoors at night, Nights of the Jack has a fan base and as always, those who pan the concept or execution. Nevermind. It’s an event to shine through October nights in Southern California.

Why Calabasas?

First off — the city name means “pumpkin”. This is awesome! Calabasas is also home to an annual Calabasas Pumpkin Festival to honor the city’s namesake, its climate and history. Try pumpkin pie eating contest, pick a pumpkin out of the patch, enjoy the bands, kids fun zone and Halloween-themed contests, games and entertainment.

While some see Summer’s end as the end of good times, it’s only the beginning as we roll into multiple holidays (Oktoberfest, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.,) with festivals, parties, costumes, food and socializing.
