Pictured: Los Angeles Anime Festival July 2-5, 2015 includes Maid Cafe and Butler Cafe, interactive experiences inspired by the maid cafes of Akihabara. “Cute and courteous maids cater to your every need” then break out into dance and song with special 18+ shows featuring a bunny theme — Butler Cafe features a sports theme. Other musical entertainment at the festival includes Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of KISS appearing in concert with the popular Japanese band, Momoiro Clover Z, which KISS members partnered with to create hit songs.
If you wonder why Los Angeles Anime Festival is the biggest such convention in North America it’s partially because Southern California has the largest Japanese population in the U.S. Combine that with the creative talent at animation studios such as Disney which anime in Japan got its inspiration from. Then there’s California’s entertainment and film industries helping bring acceptance to unconventional cosplay. With more than 15 animation festivals in California this year, the anime craze continues grow & spread faster than Godzilla.
