If playing games in arcades is your idea of fun, you are not alone. Some of us never grow up! Pictured are Junior Lifeguards relaxing after a hard day of swimming, surfing, and exercising at Newport Beach. They stepped into the popular Bay Arcade (home to Zoltar) to play games, win tickets and swap them for prizes. Roll forward 20 years when pre-teen boys become adults. Now they are old enough to drive or fly to the mega-arcade experience at Santa Clara Hyatt called ‘California Extreme’. For a weekend flat fee of $60 attendees can play a variety of pinball machines July 13-14, 2013, and attend seminars such as, “The Japanese Arcade Experience.” Pacific Pinball Festival sponsored by the Pacific Pinball Museum in Alameda disbanded last year so the non-profit organization could focus on finding a permanent home for their museum and antique pinball machines. Thanks to enterprising pinball fans, the show must go on! SEE: caextreme.org
