One of California’s most creative and colorful Halloween parades outside the doors of Disneyland in Anaheim has been a tradition since 1924, long before the theme park opened in 1955 and began producing its own parades and Halloween celebrations. The Anaheim Halloween Parade was conceived with the idea of keeping mischievous kids from pulling pranks such as soaping windows. The nighttime pageant of goblins, witches and ghosts stretches a mile and a half through the darkened streets of downtown, delighting an estimated 50,000 people who come to see the incredible floats and entries others have cooked up. It’s by no means the only Halloween parade, but among the competition, it certainly stands out. Here are a dozen Halloween Parades in California–hopefully with one in your area!
