California, All That Jazz!

This weekend jazz lovers will unite at the Long Beach Jazz Festival. It isn’t surprising that jazz is extremely popular in California, considering that West Coast jazz, which developed around Los Angeles and San Francisco during the 1950s as a sub-genre of cool jazz, is still going strong. It is by no means the only style of jazz played at upcoming concerts, but you will likely hear at least one song or composition with West Coast jazz at its core during jazz festivals.
