There are dozens of powwows in 2014, and you’ll find them on university campuses, at fairgrounds, community parks and casino and Indian lands. Powwows celebrate tribal costumes, customs and dance, and are open to the public. Many are free to see, providing the perfect place to take kids.
According to Webster dictionary, the word, “powwow” means “social gathering that usually includes competitive dancing”. Most events in California do, indeed, include this element, but you may be confused by the different ways the events are listed by their planners. Variations include Powwwow, Pow-wow and Pow Wow.
